Engagement Photography Session - How to dress - Blink Of An Eye

Dressing for a Engagement Photography Session

Dressing for a Engagement Photography Session

We get asked a lot about what you should be wearing for an engagement photography session or any session for that matter. Engagement photography is a special time. First and foremost the outfits you pick should be a reflection of both of you and your personality. If you have an outfit or piece that is meaningful for you than bring or wear it. There is always an opportunity to do a change or two to capture different moods.

  • Don’t be afraid of colour, a splash of pink or vibrant shirt can really jump out in the pictures.
  • You don’t need to be in the same colour but make sure you are in the same palette or complimentarycolourwheel01

    • Colors located in direct opposition to each other are termed “complementary” colors. That means they complement each other. That means they look good together.
    • This is another good article on combining colors an neutrals.
    • Keep away from logo’s or to many / bold patterns, general solid dark colors flatten the most
  • Make sure you are wearing things that are flattering to your body type.
    • Sleeves can often flatter your arms
    • Boots can stretch your legs and make them look longerEngagement Photography Session
    • Collars on guys make a nice frame to their face
    • V-necks on women help elongate the your neck
    • Try not to have to much loose clothing as it is generally less flattering
    • Here are a few tips from harpersbazzar
  • Take care with your makeup and nails
    • You will have these photographs for ever and be sharing with lots of people, if possible have your hair and makeup professionally done
    • Get your nails done if you can, maybe for both of you. Remember your hands will be a focal point in these pictures
  • Take a few test shots. If you can try on your outfits before you come to your session and have a friend take a few pictures of the two of you with your camera just to see how they look together.
  • Bring some things that are meaningful, if he played you songs on the guitar than feel free to include it. Is there a special gift or item from when you were dating. A few nice pictures with those items ads a sentimental touch to the photography session.
