Wedding Advice for the Bride
As we scour sites and information to help our visitors sometime we come across advice that isn’t directly related to wedding photography but is just worthwhile so we have to share. Wedding path had a few great points in this article. These tips do somewhat relate to your wedding pictures as they are about “On-the-day Wedding Tip” and getting ready.
- Don’t wear a T-Shirt but a buttoned shirt as taking it off won’t damage your hair.
- If your dress goes over your head than put a pillow case or a silk underskirt on your head so that it will go over easier
- Before your wedding day remove any labels on the bottom of your shoes
- Have a friend who isn’t in the bridal party to do up buttons or lace tie-ups
- Get the bride dressed first. Usually people plan to get the bride ready last but if time becomes a premium you don’t want to be rushing.
Unique Wedding Ideas from Muse in Milton
Absolutely love some of these ideas from Muse custom designs in Milton, Ontario. “Every wedding day is special and unique, with lots of wonderful memories.” These are a few of my favorites but head over to her Facebook page to see some more great examples.
The custom dance floor, shoe decals and script on the limo or other vehicles make a really nice touch and also make for great wedding photography. Just as a note, this pictures are their promotional pictures and not taken by us but we do love the concepts.

“A letter to our readers and our supporters from the publishers of MOM Magazine
We’d like to begin by saying THANK YOU. Thank you for supporting our publication, for being there for us at events and for reading our work. MOM Magazine has been the result of a year’s worth of hard work, work that was a labour of love for all of us. Bringing you timely, substantial content and information for women, for moms, was our reason for being. It was our passion for really good magazines, along with our dedication to creativity and quality that allowed us to produce such a beautiful publication. We’re so incredibly proud of the acclaim the magazine has received from across Toronto, and even across Canada. During the past year, we have aligned ourselves with causes that are dear to our hearts, and we’re incredibly proud to have raised money for a number of community projects and causes. We’re especially proud of our fundraising efforts benefitting Milton athlete—Travis Gerrits—and his family in his successful bid for a spot on Canada’s Olympic team for the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics! We will continue to support these causes and projects as individuals.
However, we have been forced to make a very difficult decision. With heavy hearts we have decided not to continue publishing MOM Magazine for the time being. The articles already written and laid out for the next issue will be posted online via our website and facebook page. Subscriptions will be refunded. Despite our decision, we invite you to continue frequenting our online pages where information, events, product information will continue to be available and new articles will continue to be posted.
Any questions or comments may be emailed to email@example.com
Thank you again and we look forward to seeing you all in the Halton community, where we will continue to do our work as individuals, as friends and neighbours to you all.”

A Classic / Vintage Wedding
In a recent blog we looked at trends for 2013 and having vintage wedding photography was one of those trends. As luck would have it today we received an email from TheKnot.com on having a classic wedding. Here is a summary of some of their points.
- Your Style: Incorporate a classic style into your wedding, think Jackie O
- Venue: Select a setting that has a historic feel. Casa Loma, Dundurn Castle, Royal York Hotel or King Edward Hotels, Hart House’s Great hall, The Allan Gardens or many others.
- Your dress: Look for sophisticated ball gown and possibly tails for the guys.
- Choosing your colors: Select colours that have a vintage feel, all white, gold, silver or Tiffany blue
- Flowers and Decor: Go with a classic feel (doesn’t have to be stuffy), roses, linens, candelabras etc…
- Music: Music plays such an important role in setting the feel. Vintage wedding options include a big band or piano player. If you are going with a DJ select music that fits the period you are emulating
- Toast: champagne flutes in a classic look will ad to the overall ambiance
If you are planning a vintage wedding we will happily work with you to make sure the wedding photography reflects the vintage wedding style.
2013 Wedding Photography Trends
Each year we see new wedding photography trends. Brides and grooms are looking for something a little different and to have their wedding be differentiated from others they have been to recently. So with that what are we starting to see as trends that are emerging in 2013.
Black & White / Sepia Photography
B&W and sepia images were popular back in the 2000′s but they are making a comeback across all genres of photography and weddings are no exception to this. It gives a nice classic feel. Shooting images to be done in black and white isn’t always as simple as just shooting in color and converting . You need to look for the contrast of tones that will make for an image that will stand out in B&W. Have a look at the photographer portfolio in B&W to make sure it fits with the style you are envisioning.
Many brides are looking to tell a story with their pictures. Your special day is about the beginning of your story together and telling this is of critical importance. When we look at an editorial style it usually involves taking images of some of the smaller and unique details that show the atmosphere of your wedding day. With this we often involve a second shooter to capture some of the more candid moments.
Having that glamour moment is starting to become more popular among brides. Who doesn’t want to feel like they are on the cover of a magazine in a stunning dress. To accomplish this look we will need to plan out this well in advance. We will need to scope out a venue that will allow for this kind of imagery or it can be done after if you feel like getting back into your dress and doing your hair/makeup the a few days later or when you get back from your honeymoon and are feeling relaxed.
Vintage Wedding Photography Trends
With the trend of B&W we are seeing extensions into a vintage feel. Sometimes this involves the theme of the entire wedding. More lace on the cake and decorations, vintage accents and the look of the dress and outfits have a vintage feel. If you are planning a vintage wedding we can work with you to have your photographs fit to your look and capture that ambiance.
As we move through the season we will highlight more wedding photography trends that we see emerging this year.
