2013 Wedding Photography Trends

Each year we see new wedding photography trends. Brides and grooms are looking for something a little different and to have their wedding be differentiated from others they have been to recently. So with that what are we starting to see as trends that are emerging in 2013.

Black & White / Sepia Photography

B&W and sepia images were popular back in the 2000′s but they are making a comeOakville & Milton Wedding Photography trendsback across all genres of photography and weddings are no exception to this. It gives a nice classic feel. Shooting images to be done in black and white isn’t always as simple as just shooting in color and converting . You need to look for the contrast of tones that will make for an image that will stand out in B&W.  Have a look at the photographer portfolio in B&W to make sure it fits with the style you are envisioning.

Editorial Photography

Many brides are looking to tell a story with their pictures. Your special day is about the beginning of your story together and telling this is of critical importance. When we look at an editorial style it usually involves taking images of some of the smaller and unique details that show the atmosphere of your wedding day. With this we often involve a second shooter to capture some of the more candid moments.

Fashion Photography

Having that glamour moment is starting to become more popular among brides. Who doesn’t want to feel like they are on the cover of a magazine in a stunning dress. To accomplish this look we will need to plan out this well in advance. We will need to scope out a venue that will allow for this kind of imagery or it can be done after if you feel like getting back into your dress and doing your hair/makeup the a few days later or when you get back from your honeymoon and are feeling relaxed.

Vintage Wedding Photography Trends

With the trend of B&W we are seeing extensions into a vintage feel. Sometimes this involves the theme of the entire wedding. More lace on the cake and decorations, vintage accents and the look of the dress and outfits have a vintage feel. If you are planning a vintage wedding we can work with you to have your photographs fit to your look and capture that ambiance.

As we move through the season we will highlight more wedding photography trends that we see emerging this year.
